Enzo Fernandez remains focused on his future at Chelsea despite his suspension, with his representatives said to be prioritising extending his contract according to reports.

Liam Rosenior confirmed last week Fernandez would be suspended for the Port Vale and Manchester City games due to comments about his future during the international break.

Fernandez’s agent Javier Pastore said the punishment was unfair, and it’s been reported Chelsea players wanted the ban overturned.

Enzo Fernandez focused on Chelsea future

Fernandez has been strongly linked with a move to Real Madrid, and is reportedly open to making a switch to La Liga.

However, it’s said it could be difficult for Madrid to sign Fernandez this summer due to his transfer fee, which could be in excess of €100m.

Rosenior confirmed Fernandez would remain vice captain and part of the leadership group, and his agent has stated contract negotiations will renew after the World Cup.

Despite speculation over his future, Foot Mercato have reported Fernandez is fully focused on his future at Chelsea.

The report adds his representatives are prioritising a contract extension with a pay rise which reflects his role in the team.

Fernandez is a key player for the Blues and has scored 12 goals and registered six assists in 46 appearances in all competitions.

Chelsea are closing in on a deal for Strasbourg midfielder Valentin Barco, with the 21-year-old said to have agreed a six year contract at Stamford Bridge.

Barco will follow Emmanuel Emegha and Mamadou Sarr in swapping Strasbourg for Chelsea, and it’ll be interesting to see what the plan is for the Argentina international.
