Chelsea’s new manager search goes on and we are at the moment no clearer on who the new head coach will be at Stamford Bridge next season.

There are talks about a mystery name being on Chelsea’s candidate list, a name that nobody knows about yet, and there are plenty of reports out there right now with a bunch of names that Chelsea are apparently considering.

But when will we know who the next head coach will be?

Well, according to reporter Sami Mokbel of The Daily Mail, Chelsea are keen to appoint their new head coach for the start of June.

And the reason they want to be so quick with it is simple, per the same reporter.

He believes that one reason why Chelsea are want a swift resolution to their search is because they are aware Manchester United could soon rival them for their targets.

And as we know, United are already being linked with a number of the same manager names that Chelsea are being linked with, so there could be a real battle about to ensue there between the two Premier League rivals.

The need to get this appointment spot on

Chelsea finished above United this season in the end but neither club had a great season and both clubs will be hoping to push on next season and do much better, and they will be making sure they make the right managerial choice to help them do that.

Mauricio Pochettino only lasted one season in charge at Chelsea despite what was described as an exhaustive process and search for the new manager last summer before settling on Pochettino. So it makes you wonder, if the process was so exhaustive and they were so careful to select Pochettino, what went wrong and why did that fail after only one season? There was even plenty of talk that he could have been sacked much sooner in the season as well.

They need to get this one spot on.
