Southampton’s right-back Kyle Walker-Peters is poised to become one of the most notable English names of the Premier League summer transfer window.
A highly competitive transfer market has emerged for Walker-Peters, who is on the radar of numerous clubs. Notably, Fulham, West Ham United, Chelsea, Crystal Palace, and his former club, Tottenham, are all said to be ‘racing’ to secure the player’s signature.
The fact that the player has entered the final year of his contract and has declined extension offers has only heightened interest from all the clubs above. Furthermore, the possibility of his release at the end of the season positions Walker-Peters as a valuable opportunity in the transfer market.
The Boy Hotspur understands Tottenham are particularly keen on re-signing Walker-Peters, who departed previously in search of more playing time. In addition to Tottenham, Everton is also closely monitoring the player’s situation, aiming to capitalise on the fact that his contract has just six months remaining.
Our view
Given the chaos surrounding Spurs, any transfer is difficult to take all that seriously. Add to this a report where the player acknowledges his own frustrations with Southampton’s scatter gun recruitment, and one is left struggling to see the allure of a return to Spurs.
There are a lot of clubs listed here, which doesn’t mean Spurs aren’t interested, but it might be the case that we aren’t deadly serious. Would Spurs want to be staring at a reported £25 million for Kyle? For me, he merely remains an okay player.
The sooner the situation with Ange Postecoglou is resolved, the better.
