The Inter Milan signing of Petar Sucic was far from straightforward, with the Nerazzurri beating competition from Milan, Juventus, and several major European clubs by moving early and showing unwavering faith in the young Croatian midfielder.

Sporting director Piero Ausilio reportedly finalised the deal with Dinamo Zagreb during the final months of 2024, as per FCInter1908.

Indeed, at a time when Sucic was sidelined with a metatarsal fracture.

The injury ruled him out for three months.

However, Inter’s technical staff were convinced of his potential long before that setback.

Inter identified him as a future star back in September.

And, that belief proved decisive.

Inter Beat Rivals Juventus & Milan To Sucic Signature

Despite lucrative offers arriving later from Milan, Juventus, Atlético Madrid, and Borussia Dortmund, Sucic had already made his choice.

Milan only approached after the player’s recovery, while Juventus director Cristiano Giuntoli even held two video calls with Dinamo executives in January, attempting to hijack the move.

Neither effort succeeded.

Sucic stayed loyal to his word and to Inter’s early faith, turning down richer proposals to honour the promise he had made to Ausilio.

Indeed, choosing to further his career in black and blue.
