Inter Milan reportedly didn’t give Atletico Madrid a chance to negotiate a deal for in-demand wingback Carlos Augusto during the summer.

According to Calciomercato via FCInter1908, the Nerazzurri firmly rebuffed the Spaniards’ attempt to lure the Brazilian to La Liga.

Despite his limited playing time under former manager Simone Inzaghi, Carlos Augusto remains an integral part of the squad.

Furthermore, the 26-year-old has enjoyed a more prominent role under new coach Cristian Chivu this season.

Indeed, he has already made six appearances in Serie A, adding a late cameo against Ajax in the Champions League.

How Inter Milan Turned Down Atletico Madrid Attempt to Sign Carlos Augusto

Atletico Madrid harbored a genuine interest in the Brazilian star, but they never had a chance to engage in serious talks with Inter.

Determined to keep Augusto at San Siro, Inter even refused to meet Los Rojiblancos at the negotiating table.

Indeed, the Nerazzurri took their star wingback off the market in the summer.

Now, they’re keen to renew his contract, which expires in 2028.
