Revealed: Tottenham Hotspur’s Four ‘Senior Appointments’ to Replace Daniel Levy

Today, the shock announcement has been made by Tottenham Hotspur that Daniel Levy will be departing the club after almost 25 years. He steps down from the role as executive chairman after the summer transfer window has closed for Premier League teams. Spurs fans may be surprised, but relieved after he has received a lot of criticism over the years.

‘All Part of Club’s Ambition’

Tottenham Hotspur have made a shock announcement today that Levy will be departing the club after 24 years. He steps down from his role as executive chairman, which he has had since February 2001.

In recent months, Spurs have made a number of appointments, which the club have described as “succession planning”. It is not clear, but this suggests that Levy’s exit was known in advance. The first appointment was of Peter Charrington as Non-Executive Director in March. At the time, it was unclear what his role would be, but he now becomes the Non-Executive Chairman, replacing Levy to an extent.

Next was the appointment of Vinai Venkatesham as Chief Executive Officer, who had recently worked at Arsenal and had known Levy for “many years”. After this, Thomas Frank joined as men’s head coach, following the exit of Ange Postecoglou. This may have been coming regardless, after a dismal season which somehow ended in silverware. Similarly, Martin Ho was appointed as head coach of the women’s team, after they too suffered a poor season.

Part of the club statement reads: “This is all part of the Club’s ambition to ensure that it is set up to deliver long-term sporting success”. It would appear that Levy’s exit was known for some time, and at least the first two appointments were a direct product of this.
