Piotr Zielinski joined Inter Milan last summer from Napoli after turning down a move to Juventus.
According to FCInterNews, the Polish midfielder had a valid reason to reject Cristiano Giuntoli.
Giuntoli, who worked as Napoli’s sporting director for years, had obvious reasons to pursue Zielinski’s signature.
Indeed, he was intimately familiar with the 31-year-old’s qualities and wanted to sign him at the Allianz Stadium.
However, Beppe Marotta beat him to the punch.
After eight years in Naples, Piotr Zielinski became one of the symbols of the club.
Therefore, moving to Juventus was never an option for the skilled midfielder.
Indeed, the long-standing rivalry between the Partenopei and the Bianconeri was always a sticking point.
Furthermore, Inter immediately offered him the wages he demanded, rewarding him with a hefty €4.5 million salary.
On the other hand, Napoli’s contract proposal arrived too little too late, as he already had an agreement with the Nerazzurri.
Yet, he never considered joining Juventus under any circumstances.
