Tottenham Hotspur have been looking to bring in a new creative midfielder in the ongoing summer transfer window, with the North Londoners looking to pursue a move to bring Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott to Hotspur Way in the ongoing summer transfer window.
Given that James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski had some inconsistencies with injuries in the past season, it prepares the Lilywhites to consider a move to bring in a new creative midfielder to the roster at N17.
And transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has now confirmed that the 22-year-old Fulham graduate has been mounting interest with three to four clubs looking to secure his signature, and he insists that a decision is expected soon.
Writing in his Givemesport newsletter, Fabrizio Romano quoted:
“It’s gonna be one to watch. There’s interest from 3-4 clubs for Elliott, and he’s assessing options. No decision made yet on his Liverpool future, but an interesting one.”
The North Londoners at the moment remain in the race for his services, but Elliott is yet to commit to a probable Anfield exit, be it to Tottenham or to any other destination. And this revelation comes only days after reports emerged of Thomas Frank looking at Elliott as a probable Morgan Gibbs-White replacement after the latter opted to stay at City Ground over a possible move to Nottingham Forest.
According to a report by TBR Football, the midfielder has made it clear to his potential suitors that he will be willing to only play centrally, and Thomas Frank agrees to that vision and is willing to accommodate the 22-year-old in more central zones.
Let’s get it clear, signing him is not just about bringing squad depth but about bringing in someone who can be the player who delivers consistently in those zones.
The North Londoners would know that bringing in Elliott would not be as cheap given that there was a report recently from The Athletic claiming that the Reds are looking for a £40m fee with a buy-back clause for Elliott, and if Tottenham or any other suitors were to refuse the latter condition, then the asking price could rise to over £50 million.
Now that is a hefty fee for someone who is not even starting for his side and has had his fair share of injury problems as well. So if the North Londoners are to secure his signatures, then it would still be a risk.
