Roma hope Angelino can still complete 23m Al-Hilal move

Angelino’s move to Al-Hilal has hit the brakes, but not collapsed completely, as Roma still hope to get €23m for the player even though he missed the deadline.

A deal was progressing rapidly over the last few days once the Saudi Pro League side recognised that Theo Hernandez of Milan would not accept their proposal.

While Roma and Angelino seemed more amenable, there were delays which meant the transfer could not be completed in time to participate in the Club World Cup.

With that in mind, the negotiations are expected to continue, but without the time pressure of that deadline.

Angelino still in running for Al-Hilal

According to the Corriere dello Sport, Angelino had agreed personal terms for a contract worth €10m net per season for three years, more than tripling his current €3m salary at Roma.

However, Angelino never did take the flight to Paris for the medical tests and contract, because Roma had not completed the agreement with Al-Hilal.

This is reportedly because the Saudis tried one last time to convince Theo Hernandez and were rebuffed yet again, slowing the whole situation down.

Roma are now worried that with more time at their disposal, Al-Hilal will turn away from Angelino to other targets.
