Roma are in the final stages of the process of appointing a new director following Tiago Pinto’s resignation and have whittled down their shortlist to three candidates, with Nice’s Florent Ghisolfi at the top of it, Sky informs.

Their previous exec announced he’d step down in January and formally dit it after the end of the winter window. The Giallorossi have been linked to several options since. Monza’s François Modesto has long been considered the favorite. Fiorentina’s Nicolas Burdisso fell on their radar as of late. He’ll depart the Viola and is close with Daniele De Rossi.

According to the outlet, Ghisolfi has already met with the Roma ownership, unlike the other officials. The Giallorossi inquired also about Rennes’ Florian Maurice and Atalanta’s Tony D’Amico. The latter is highly unlikely to leave La Dea, which he joined not so long ago.

The former midfielder got his start at Lens before being appointed by Nice. The 39-year-old made the call to appoint Francesco Farioli last summer. Les Aiglons are having a solid campaign as they are fifth in Ligue 1.

Roma have been looking for a young exec on the cutting edge and are focusing on Ghisolfi. He spent time at Bastia and Reims as a footballer and served as an assistant for his last club and Lorient after retiring and before starting working behind the desk in 2019. The Giallorossi might not stop at one new man while reworking their front office.
