Italian reports claim Roma increased their offer for Claudio Echeverri to a loan with option to buy for €33m, giving Manchester City a €40m counter-option.

The player has made it clear he wants to join the Giallorossi , where he would be able to play with fellow Argentina internationals Paulo Dybala and Matias Soulé.

He turned down a proposal from Girona, but now Roma need to reach an agreement with Manchester City.

Echeverri has his heart set on Roma transfer

It remains a loan with option to buy, which means the figures are higher than if it had been a guaranteed transfer fee.

After €25m were turned down, the Corriere dello Sport suggests that the new proposal is a total package worth €33m.

At the same time, Manchester City can take advantage of a buy-back option for the forward that is set at €40m.

This would guarantee that if Echeverri does flourish at the Stadio Olimpico, Roma do at least make some money back on the transfer.

Manchester City paid €18.5m to purchase the player from River Plate in 2024, but he has made just three competitive appearances for the club, scoring one goal in the FIFA Club World Cup.
