Roma could have a busy summer after missing out on a top-four Serie A finish for the sixth year on the trot. Adding a new right-back is one of Daniele De Rossi’s priorities, and the Giallorossi seem to have picked their poison.

Matteo Moretto reports Roma have set their sights on sought-after Torino star Raoul Bellanova. However, De Rossi’s employers have yet to open talks with the Granata as they want to focus on securing Champions League football before diving into the market. 

Time could be of the essence. Bellanova has gone from strength to strength in 2023/24, amassing one goal and seven assists in 36 Serie A appearances. In doing so, he’s become the favorite to be Italy’s first-choice right-back at the upcoming European Championship. 

If he translates his superb club form to the biggest continental stage, Roma could face stiff competition for his services. Bellanova’s price tag has skyrocketed after a phenomenal season, and shining at the Euros would only increase his stock, plus generate more attention. 

Roma desperately need a player of Bellanova’s quality. Rick Karsdorp and Zeki Celik have failed to live up to the billing. It’s reasonable to expect one of them to leave the Stadio Olimpico in the coming months, especially if De Rossi’s chiefs sign the 24-year-old. 

How much Torino will demand for their rising star remains to be seen. But Bellanova’s contract runs out in 2027, meaning Roma and other potential suitors would have to dig deep into their pockets to secure his signature.
