Roma would like to give Gian Piero Gasperini a new left-back due to Kostas Tsimikas and Angelino’s problems and have set sights on Toulouse’s Dayann Methalie and Wolverhampton’s David Moller Wolfe.

According to Alfredo Pedullà, the Giallorossi made a serious attempt for the former, but the French club wants €26/27M plus add-ons. The youngster is considered a surefire prospect and has suitors across Europe. He has turned heads in his first Ligue 1 campaign, assisting once in 16 appearances.

Roma are unlikely to spend that much for Methalie despite liking the player, and tested the waters for Moller Wolfe as a fallback, Tuttomercatoweb reports. He headed to the Premier League from Alkmaar for €12M last summer and has registered 2 goals and 3 helpers in 16 matches so far. He’s the top option for Norway in his role.

The Giallorossi are expected to send Tsimikas back to Liverpool, ending his loan spell prematurely. Angelino hasn’t been able to recover fully from a bout of asthmatic bronchitis. They are also chasing after Niccolò Fortini, but Fiorentina’s demands are robust despite his uncertain contractual situation.

Our Take on Roma, Methalie, and Moller Wolfe

Considering they invested in Robinio Vaz despite their FFP-related limitations, they might decide to spend on somebody young they really rate. The Viola prospect has played a lot on that wing but is right-footed. They can roll the dice in this case, as they’d have time to let the newcomer adjust to his new surroundings since Zeki Celik and Wesley are rock-solid. He wouldn’t need to be a day-one starter. Still, the former seems likely to depart at the end of the season, so they might decide to replace him early.
