Fresh rumors from Argentina have linked Paulo Dybala to Boca Juniors ahead of January, with his former Roma teammate Leandro Paredes as the leading proponent of the operation. The deal is considered unlikely for the next window, but it could become more realistic at the season, La Gazzetta dello Sport informs.
Los Xeneizes would have to negotiate with the Giallorossi to sign the star in the next month. Instead, it’ll be a lot easier in the summer, when he’ll be out of contract, unless the capital club ramps up their efforts to agree to an extension.
At this stage, there’s been no progress in that respect. Dybala is having his worst campaign since moving to Roma, giving Boca Juniors some hope about his eventual exit. He has scored just once in the first 14 Serie A rounds. He has been able to start just five times due to multiple physical problems. La Joya pockets €8M and would have to take a pay cut to stay. The parties have yet to really start negotiating.
Rather than parting ways with the Argentine, the Giallorossi are plotting to send Evan Ferguson back to Brighton to make room for another striker. The striker hasn’t seized the opportunity once Artem Dovbyk went down with a thigh injury.
No window goes by without this kind of buzz. His entourage must not have taken well the fact that he’s been benched twice while seemingly healthy. A couple of goals will quash the noise about his far-fetched January departure. However, the renewal will indeed be an intricate affair due to the team’s financial constraints and his routine absences and dips in form.
