Fabrizio Romano’s latest Tweet about Alejandro Garnacho make it sound like a deal to join Chelsea is very close.

Garnacho personal terms agreed, Chelsea just need Man U deal

The Italian transfer insider is this morning claiming that a deal is close to done.

He says that the “deal is done” between Chelsea and the winger. Personal terms are agreed, and everyone seems happy.

Now the hard work begins though – getting a deal over the fee agreed with Man U.

Chelsea are in no rush for that, however. They know that a deal is actually walking into them. Man U have just dropped another €80m on Benjamin Sesko, and are increasingly desperate to sell to balance the books.

As the weeks pass, the need to sell only rises, and with the season starting next weekend, the pressure is set to ramp up once again.

Garnacho isn’t interested in going anywhere else at this stage, so Chelsea can sit back and watch their negotiating partners get more and more panicked. Their initial asking price of £70m already looks long forgotten, and Chelsea will be hoping to snag him for something closer to £40m.

Chelsea still deep into Simons chase despite Garnacho interest

A couple of weeks ago, when Chelsea seemed really close to signing Xavi Simons, we heard that that a deal would not rule out a move for fellow winger Garnacho.

Well, now that that deal is seemingly on ice and the Garnacho deal steaming ahead, we’re hearing it the other way around: Romano adds here that Chelsea “pursue both Garnacho and Simons, as [previously] revealed.”

The Simons deal looks to have been paused while Chelsea complete a few more sales. We wonder which will get the green light first, if funds have only been raised for one of the two?
