Rosenior tries to explain why his player gets booed and abused by opposition fans for no obvious reason

Alejandro Garnacho gets a lot of abuse from opposition fans, and Liam Rosenior was asked about why that was in his presser.

In his press conference this week, Liam Rosenior was asked why he thought Alejandro Garnacho got booed so regularly by opposition fans.

“I don’t understand. I don’t understand why that happens,” the manager answered.

“Maybe it’s because he can be such a threat. Playing for a club like Chelsea, that just comes with the territory. You have to rise above that and not take notice of it. That’s the best way for me. I don’t think you use it as fuel. Your motivation should be there anyway to perform.”

Poor Garnacho just seems to have an unpopular face

We don’t think it’s that – he’s not so good that other teams are trying to put him off. It’s not like they boo Cole Palmer or Moises Caicedo. We honestly think it’s just his face – some footballers have those faces that opposition fans love to hate. His flashy hair and fashion probably don’t help.

It is really bizarre when you hear Lincoln or Charlton fans booing a player they’ve literally never come across before, almost as a sort of reflex.

“It’s not something that we’ve spoken about. We’ve had many conversations, but opposition fans booing you normally means you’re a threat for the opposition. All Garna needs to do is keep working really hard because his ability is not in question.

Rosenior also claimed that Garnacho had been “knocking on his door” pushing for a start with his training performances. Well, it feels like he might get one tonight.
