Manchester United lost the Manchester derby against Manchester City in their fourth game of the 2025-26 Premier League season. Man United are 14th in the league table with four points.

Their record is now one win, one draw, and two defeats. The Manchester United fans continue to feel disappointed with the team's performances this season under Ruben Amorim.

Former Manchester United player Roy Keane was furious with the performance against Man City and pointed out Luke Shaw as one of the culprits for the 3-0 loss at the Etihad Stadium.

In one of the goals for Man City, Keane blamed Luke Shaw and believes the English defender seems to give up defending.

Roy Keane: "Luke Shaw just gives up. It's like he has thrown in the towel. Manchester United had all the numbers back."

At halftime, Roy Keane was furious with the defending of the Manchester United team. He points out Bruno Fernandes and Manuel Ugarte in the goal as well, but is shocked at Shaw's defending.

Keane once again mentions Luke Shaw and says a player with his experience should not be making simple mistakes as a defender.

Roy Keane: "All of the defending [was poor]. Listen, it was very good from City, Doku and Foden’s timing was perfect. But United’s defending… the two midfielders are too square and Shaw just gives up. It’s a nice bit of skill, but Shaw [is] an England international player, he’s got hundreds of games under his belt and doesn’t even get his body position right."

Keane went further with his criticism of the team after the match and thinks the game was over as soon as Man City scored the second goal. Keane called this current Manchester United team under Ruben Amorim average.

Roy Keane: "You look at United. All too easy. United just look like a really average team. I bet City could not believe how easy it was. When the second goal goes in the game is over. You could feel it in the air. There was no coming back."
