Manchester United have struggled to find any sort of consistency and rhythm under Ruben Amorim.
The Red Devils are currently 14th in the Premier League table, enduring a disastrous campaign involving Erik ten Hag’s sacking. As Ruben Amorim succeeded Ten Hag in November, the squad he inherited has failed to adjust to the new style of play.
And while adapting to the Portuguese tactician’s distinctive style of play has been a challenge for the players, injury problems have also had a massive impact on the team’s performances and results. At this critical juncture of the season where Amorim’s side will face Athletic Bilbao in the Europa League semi-finals next month, they have been dealt an injury setback.

Addressing the media in his presser ahead of Manchester United’s trip to Bournemouth on Sunday, Amorim confirmed that Diogo Dalot could miss the rest of the season with a calf injury.
“Diogo Dalot is out,” Amorim was quoted by ESPN.
“We don’t know how long he’s going to be out. But he’s out for these next games. We will see to the end.
“There is that possibility [he could miss the rest of the season] but I don’t know, we will check week by week.”
Diogo Dalot has been one of the rare consistent performers for Manchester United since the start of last season. He has proven to be a valuable member of Amorim’s squad, thanks to his versatility, reliability and fitness levels. The Portugal international has made over 50 appearances this season, scoring three goals and registering five assists.
Unfortunately, the amount of games he has played seemingly has led to a muscle injury, perhaps ruling Dalot out for the rest of the season. It is a big setback for Amorim because the 26-year-old has been a key player for United and was showing signs of getting back his form after a slow start to the season.
The Portuguese is set to miss key games starting from Sunday’s away league game at Bournemouth. He is expected to be sidelined for the two legs of United’s Europa League semi-finals against Athletic Bilbao. For the continental fixtures, it is clear that our gaffer will take as few risks as possible, due to how imperative the matches are for the season.
Nonetheless, despite Dalot’s injury setback, it always throws up the chance for someone else to grab the opportunity and convince Amorim that they are the player who deserves a shot in the starting XI.
