According to The Sun, Amorim has urged Patrick Dorgu to study Mendes’ game closely if he wants to “become the best left-back in the world.”

The report adds that Amorim is “obsessed” with helping the 20-year-old unlock his full potential, with Manchester United’s coaching staff even referring to Dorgu as “Mendes 2.0.”

Before the start of the Red Devils’ 2025-26 season, Dorgu spoke with the media about heading into his second season with Manchester United as Amorim looks to take the player to the next level.

“I think I learned a lot,” said Dorgu of last season in August (h/t The Manchester Evening Standard). “It was a difficult and I was thrown into everything, but I feel I dealt with it good. I just try to bring a lot of confidence into this season…

“It’s a new season and everyone did well in pre-season. I’m just trying to play myself into the team more. Just give the fans what they deserve and I think everyone is trying to put United where we need to be.”
