Ruben Amorim is pushing Manchester United to land Inter Milan star Federico Dimarco

There is a restlessness around Manchester United these days. Every tactical shift under Ruben Amorim feels like a statement, not a tweak. The new system focuses on intense wing play and overlapping full-backs. It already changes how the team attacks and defends.

Amorim pushes for width and pace, which makes the club reassess its options on the left flank. Patrick Dorgu, just 20 years old, performs those duties with heart and energy. Yet, despite his potential, Amorim still wants a more experienced figure to steady that side.

According to Interlive, that figure could be Federico Dimarco. The 27-year-old Inter Milan wing-back quietly establishes himself as one of Europe’s most consistent performers. He possesses both aggression and technical qualities, which help him to shine in that position.

He plays with flair but still respects defensive order. The Italian delivers crosses, creates key passes, and shoots from distance, which will give Amorim a serious advantage and threat in attack. If United go on to sign him, Dimarco won’t arrive as a backup; he will walk straight into the starting eleven.

His mere presence will strengthen a fragile flank. Yet, the Italian’s reported £67 million price tag from 2024 will test the club’s limits. United are already juggling several priorities in the market. We reported earlier that United don’t want to rush Diego Leon and are slowly developing him. Meanwhile, Amorim does not count on Tyrell Malacia, who will leave for free in 2026. These details reveal a bigger picture, as the manager clearly plans to rebuild that side of the pitch completely.

Dimarco’s arrival could strengthen United’s left flank

Dimarco brings qualities the current squad lacks in that position. His versatility helps Amorim expand his tactical ideas without compromising on his plan. Patrick Dorgu will certainly keep his place in some matches, but Dimarco’s experience will undoubtedly push him into the first-choice role almost immediately.

Luke Shaw has delivered solid performances over the years, but his injuries and age now reduce his reliability. Dimarco, by contrast, thrives in demanding systems. He covers ground tirelessly and stays sharp in both attack and defence.

Still, United will certainly face a dilemma. The squad carries other gaps, and spending heavily in one position will limit signings elsewhere. Yet, if we look at the positive aspect, signing a player who fits Amorim’s tactics so well feels difficult to ignore. Dimarco’s arrival will send a clear message to the opposition. United will stop patching holes and start rebuilding their identity.

United’s supporters seek clarity. Amorim’s pursuit of Dimarco shows his intent rather than mere interest. The question is whether the club’s hierarchy matches his urgency. Should United act fast and pay the price for a player who fits perfectly? Or should they focus on strengthening other areas first? Does Amorim deserve his man this winter?
