Ruben Amorim labels Man Utd January target ‘special’ as audition opportunity looms

Ruben Amorim will be hoping for reinforcements in January, and one player reportedly on Manchester United’s radar has just received a public endorsement from the head coach.

January windows rarely offer the best value, but needs must, and this time around, United have some clear gaps to address.

Top of the list is midfield. Names such as Conor Gallagher and Christos Mouzakitis have been floated as potential signings.

The search does not end there. A new wing-back is also high up on the agenda.

And now, Ruben Amorim has given his seal of approval to another transfer target.

Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo is on United’s radar heading into January, and he looks like a strong fit for what Amorim wants to build.

The forward has attracted attention from several top sides, and the Portuguese manager is the latest to share his thoughts on him.

Speaking ahead of Monday’s match, Amorim told Sky Sports: “They (Bournemouth) have a special player. They have many good players, but they have a special player in Semenyo.

“[He] can play both sides with both feet.”

Semenyo could fit seamlessly into the left wing-back role at United, bringing a similar attacking presence to what Amad offers on the opposite flank.
