Ruben Amorim has wasted little time making his mark at AC Milan.

Fresh reports suggest the Portuguese manager could now be targeting an experienced Premier League winner.

The former Manchester United boss was officially appointed as AC Milan head coach earlier this month after being dismissed by the Red Devils in January following a turbulent 14-month spell at Old Trafford.

Since arriving at the San Siro, Amorim has already overseen significant changes behind the scenes.

He has reportedly sanctioned a club-record move for Goncalo Ramos as he begins reshaping his squad.

Now, another high-profile addition could be under consideration.

AC Milan make enquiry for Premier League winner

According to entrepreneur, journalist and professor Luca Cerchione on X, AC Milan have established contact regarding a senior Manchester City player in order to understand his salary demands and any bonuses required.

Cerchione, who regularly appears on Italian broadcaster 1 Station Radio and OCV Sport, added that Inter Milan had previously shown interest in the player but have since withdrawn due to the financial package involved.

The player in question is John Stones.

The England international has been one of Manchester City’s most successful players of the modern era, winning six Premier League titles and the UEFA Champions League under Pep Guardiola.

Stones’ current contract at the Etihad Stadium is set to expire on June 30, potentially making him available on a free transfer if no extension is agreed.

Interestingly, Manchester United are facing a similar contractual situation with Casemiro, whose current deal will also expire tomrrow.

Should Milan secure Stones’ signature, it would represent another major statement of intent from Amorim following his arrival in Italy.

The 32-year-old has established himself as one of Europe’s finest ball-playing defenders.

His ability to operate both in defence and midfield could prove particularly attractive to Ruben Amorim.

With Milan eager to return to the summit of Serie A and compete strongly in Europe once again, signing a player of Stones’ pedigree would significantly strengthen the club ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.
