Talk about talking yourself out of a job.
Ruben Amorim was getting more and more vocal over his position as head coach at Manchester United.
In fact, him being the head coach was seemingly an issue with him after recent comments.
Which would have been a surprise to most Manchester United fans as there was a lot of publicity and fanfare around the specific title of the person to replace Erik ten Hag.
And it was widely publicised that The Red Devils would be looking at a head coach rather than a new manager.
So when Ruben Amorim stated that he’s the Manchester United manager and not the head coach, it left a lot of people confused.
Was the Portuguese told something different to what was being widely reported?
Or was Amorim saying something to intentionally antagonise the hierarchy at Old Trafford?
Whatever may have been the case, it seems that the latter has come true.
The Athletic report that Manchester United have dismissed Ruben Amorim from his role as Manchester United head coach.
David Ornstein states that the 40-year-old Portuguese leaving with immediate effect after 14 months in charge following a complete breakdown in relations with those in charge of the club.
According to Ornstein, the club will have to pay Ruben Amorim’s salary in full as there is no discounted exit clause in his contract.
Ruben Amorim had a contract until 2017 – something that he mentioned in his press conference yesterday.
It is believed that the club are looking at appointing a permanent replacement for the former Sporting Lisbon manager in the summer.
The Athletic report that the decision was made by Omar Berrada, Jason Wilcox and Sir Jim Ratcliffe in conjunction with the Glazer family.
CentreDevils exclusively revealed that there was growing tension in the club and it seems that has come to a head this morning.
After a spell in charge of the club that contained more lows than highs, Ruben Amorim will call the 1-1 draw away to Leeds United as his final game as Manchester United head coach.
Fans will now look towards who the club will turn to as the next man in charge.
