The dust has yet to fully settle on Manchester United’s most recent managerial upheaval.

A turbulent spell since his appointment saw Ruben Amorim dismissed from the Old Trafford dugout last month, following a damaging run of results and growing tension behind the scenes after he openly questioned aspects of the club’s hierarchy and long-term direction.

While the on-field struggles ultimately accelerated his departure, it was Amorim’s increasingly strained relationship with the decision-makers at United that appeared to underline how quickly the situation deteriorated.

His exit paved the way for former club captain and Middlesbrough boss Michael Carrick to step in on an interim basis, with the focus swiftly shifting towards stabilising the season and restoring momentum.

Despite his abrupt dismissal, Amorim has so far remained publicly silent.

That silence, however, is deliberate.

According to Chris Wheeler and Nathan Salt via the Daily Mail, a well-placed source in Portugal has revealed that the former manager plans to wait until the end of the campaign before breaking his silence on how his tenure unravelled.

The report claims Amorim has no intention of disrupting the Red Devils’ push for a UEFA Champions League return, nor does he wish to undermine Carrick as he attempts to steady the ship.

Any public reflection on what went wrong is expected to come only once the season has concluded.

Internally, there is an understanding that Ruben Amorim’s eventual account could cast further light on the challenges facing the club’s structure, recruitment process and leadership model.

For now, though, both parties appear content to keep the focus on football rather than fallout.

When the season closes, that restraint may well give way to a far more revealing insight into a spell that was unravelled far quicker than many anticipated.
