Celtic legend and Lisbon Lion John Fallon has passed away at the age of 84. The Scottish Champions confirmed the sad news that the original Holy Goalie had died on Tuesday evening.

After a successful career between the sticks for Celtic, Fallon was a regular feature at Celtic games up and down the country. Despite being part of Celtic’s most successful team, John was always happy to stop and chat with supporters.

Fallon made over 200 appearances for Celtic and helped the club to six league titles, five League Cups, two Scottish Cups and the European Cup in 1967.

Deputising to Ronnie Simpson, Fallon was Celtic’s only sub for the Final against Inter Milan as Jock Stein’s side made footballing history, becoming the first British side to win the cup with the big ears.

Hopefully Celtic will be able to honour John Clark and Fallon at the first game of the season against St Mirren as Celtic kick off their new campaign on Flag Day.

Requiescat in pace.
