Salernitana signed Niccolò Pierozzi from Fiorentina today, but risk losing Atalanta defender Jose Luis Palomino to Olympiacos.
The rock bottom side in Serie A are revamping their squad during the January transfer window, especially with the return of director of sport Walter Sabatini.
They secured a reinforcement this afternoon with the arrival of defender Pierozzi on loan from Fiorentina until the end of the season.
Salernitana had also expected to bring in Palomino from Atalanta and it had been reported a deal was practically done.
However, this evening transfer expert Fabrizio Romano claims there has been a new proposal for Palomino from Olympiacos.
The centre-back turned 34 last week and his contract with Atalanta only runs to June 30, having joined the Bergamo boys from Ludogorets in the summer of 2017.
He has effectively already been replaced in the Atalanta squad by the arrival of Isak Hien from Hellas Verona, a transfer that cost La Dea roughly €8.5m.
