According to recent reports, MLS side San Diego FC reportedly has its sights set on Club America striker Henry Martin, who is considered an icon in Liga MX.
For several months now, Martin, 33, has not been in his best form with America. The former captain and locker room leader for the blue-cream side is far from his best version, partly due to injuries that have kept him off the field.
His future is currently uncertain and his continuity in Mexico is not secure, following his poor performance in the classic against Chivas and his strong statements blaming the coach for the defeat.
Although there was later talk about the statements he made about the playing style of head coach Andre Jardine, and it was said that everything had been cleared up, reports about his departure after the Clausura 2026 have resurfaced, and now there is talk of a significant offer from Major League Soccer.
On Tuesday, Marca reported that Henry Martin's possible destination after the 2026 World Cup would be San Diego FC.
Furthermore, if this offer materializes, America would have a "clear path" to negotiate the long-awaited return of Fulham forward Raul Jimenez.
Although there are no formal negotiations yet between San Diego FC and America, the cited outlet reports that Henry Martin would receive an offer of $6 million per year, a significant salary given that the striker has not performed well in recent months.
San Diego FC's intention is for Martin to become one of their new Designated Players, something Hirving "Chucky" Lozano had until last year, who will not continue with the MLS team after head coach Mikey Varas decided not to count on the Mexican due to alleged indiscipline.
The MLS season is just about to begin next weekend. San Diego FC will start the campaign facing Montreal at Snapdragon Stadium on Saturday, Feb. 21.
