Saputo frustrated as Bologna announce Motta departure

Bologna have announced Thiago Motta is leaving at the end of the season.

While guiding Bologna to Champions League qualification, Motta has decided not to renew his contract.

The club announced this morning: "This morning Thiago Motta communicated to the club his intention not to renew his contract with Bologna FC 1909. Having taken note of the decision, the Club thanks the coach for the extraordinary work done and wishes him the best of luck for the rest of his career.

In these two years I have met a prepared and winning coach," declared president Joey Saputo, who has given the team a brilliant playing identity. The achievement of qualifying for the Champions League consigns him and all the players to the history of our Club.

"I would have liked him to stay at Bologna, but I can only thank him and his staff for these wonderful seasons and wish him the best for the future."
