Aston Villa suffered a disappointing loss to Manchester United at the weekend and failed to get back into the Premier League top 4, but it seems that they have suffered another blow when it comes to their midfielder Boubacar Kamara.

Aston Villa Suffer Major Boubacar Kamara Injury Blow

How Long Is Boubacar Kamara Likely To Be Out For?

The Athletic’s David Ornstein has reported that “scans confirm” Kamara ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in the second half against the Red Devils and is expected to miss the entirety of the second half of the 2023/24 season.

The 24-year-old sustained an injury in his right knee and initial scans have shown that he damaged his knee badly. Ornstein adds that further scans are planned by the club, but the Frenchman is expected to be out of action for a five to six-month layoff period.

It is also stated that the midfielder is likely to undergo surgery to fix the problem, after having sustained a knee injury back in 2022 which forced him to miss nine games for club and country.

Which Other Players Are Aston Villa Missing Due To Injury?

Kamara joins a long list of injury absentees for Unai Emery’s side and becomes the third player to have suffered a bad knee injury this season after the same forced centre-back Tyrone Mings and midfielder Emiliano Buendia to miss the entirety of the 2023/24 season as well.

Unai Emery recently also confirmed that defender Ezri Konsa will also miss a month of action due to a knee injury, saying: “Ezri is injured. He has a knee sprain and he is not going to be available. I don’t know, three or four weeks more or less.”

The Villans are likely to feel the absence of Kamara, who has been a mainstay in Emery’s side this season and was hailed as “incredible” by his midfield partner Douglas Luiz earlier in the campaign too. Kamara made 30 appearances for Villa this season, only missing four Premier League games due to suspension, but is now unlikely to return before the start of the 2024/25 season.
