Scaroni thanks and praises Pioli: 'He fully reflects the Milan style'

After the game against Salernitana and the farewell ceremony at San Siro, AC Milan president Paolo Scaroni spoke to the media and praised Stefano Pioli. Above all, he highlighted Pioli’s strengths as a man rather than as a manager. 

It ended up being an emotional evening at San Siro as Milan said goodbye to not just Pioli, but also Olivier Giroud and Simon Kjaer. The Curva Sud returned to chanting for the final 45 minutes and during the farewell ceremony, the scenes were beautiful.

Speaking to MilanTV after the ceremony, as cited by MilanNews, Scaroni shared his thoughts on Pioli’s departure and what he has meant for the club. Above all, he highlighted Pioli’s strength as a man and what made him so special.

“During the season, I always said that Pioli was doing well and I say it now too. We must remember what Stefano did with us, he gave us the joy of winning a Scudetto again, of playing in a Champions League semi-final. We are very grateful to the coach but above all to the person that is Stefano Pioli.

“Stefano is a leader capable of keeping everyone together, moderate and never grumpy, a nice and very elegant person. Pioli fully reflects the Milan style,” he stated.

The 2023-24 season has officially come to an end and now it’s time for Milan to focus on the future. Scaroni will not have a hand in the new manager decision, but he remains an important figure within the club.
