Daniele Bonera is expected to become the first coach of AC Milan’s U23 side next season and he has been preparing for the job in the best possible way.

As reported by Nicolo Schira (via Radio Rossonera), Bonera is getting used to the level that he is likely to be coaching at by watching the Serie C playoff match between Catania and Atalanta U23.

That gave him the chance to see the business end of the league that Milan U23 would go into, whilst also seeing how teams play against one of the Serie A U23 teams, in this case Atalanta.

The game ended 1-0 to Catania who were the away side, and Bonera is sure to have learnt a lot from the experience.

Milan are attempting to enter a U23 side in Serie C, as Atalanta and Juventus have done in the recent past.

Whilst it has not yet been officially announced, former Milan defender Bonera is expected to be the inaugural coach and he will be tasked with helping to develop young players in a first-team environment who can then help the senior team or be sold for profit.

He is taking the right steps to acclimatise to the league.
