Since leaving Manchester United in summer 2024, Scott McTominay has experienced a major rise at with Serie A champions Napoli.

Helping them on their way to being Italian champions for the second time in three years, McTominay was awarded the MVP of the season and Player of the Season for his contributions.

Since leaving Old Trafford, the 29-year-old has scored 23 goals and grabbed 10 assists in 70 games, helping them to win the Supercopa Italiana earlier this season.

Due to his continued impressive performances, it’s no surprise that the world of football are keeping tabs on him, with a return to Old Trafford even on the cards.

However, the midfielder has now squashed any links to leaving Napoli, breaking his silence on his future plans.

Speaking to Corriere dello Sport, Scott McTominay explained: “My agent hasn’t spoken to anyone about my future.”

He continued: “He only talks to the club and me. He hasn’t said anything to the newspapers.

“I’m extremely happy here and, as far as I’m concerned, I’m a Napoli player; that’s all I think about.

“The future is very important and I can see myself at Napoli for a long time.”

“My family is happy, I’m happy. It’s a fantastic moment, I’ve experienced something different from the last year and a half.

“As long as everyone in my life is happy, I am too.”

While this clears up McTominay’s personal views on his future, Napoli themselves aren’t agaisnt letting their star player leave if the right offer comes in.

Speaking in a recent interview, the club’s global business development officer Leonardo Giammarioli explained: “It’s a bit complicated for Serie A and our competitive clubs…the league is still making losses in revenue.”

He continued: “Of course, it’s hard to keep up with the other big four leagues, but we’re trying to improve and be competitive.

“Keeping players is difficult, it wasn’t easy to get them [players such as McTominay and Billy Gilmour] – it’s even harder to keep them.

“We need to be smart about our signings…every bit of money we spend must count.”

So, although a departure for McTominay doesn’t appear to be on the cards just yet, a move for the right price isn’t out of the question down the line.
