New Chicago Fire Director of Football Gregg Berhalter is continuing to shake things up in the club’s front office as prepares for his first season in his new role.

The Fire announced that Sebastian Pelzer, who spent the past five seasons as the club’s technical director, has been named Chief Sports Officer at fellow Joe Mansueto-owned club FC Lugano in the Swiss Super League.

“I’m incredibly grateful for my time with the Chicago Fire. I truly appreciate the support that I’ve received from Joe Mansueto, Georg Heitz, the staff, players, and fans over the past five years,” said Pelzer in the announcement. “I wish the Fire all the best for the future and look forward to seeing the partnership between the two clubs continue to grow. I’m excited to begin this new chapter with FC Lugano and help build on the success the club has achieved.”

Pelzer reunites with Georg Heitz, who also left the Fire after five seasons, as Chicago’s former sporting director holds a board seat with FC Lugano.
