Sergio Gomez and Oscar Bobb provided promising cameos in Manchester City’s 5-1 win over Fulham on Saturday. With Cole Palmer having left the champions for Chelsea, it left questions as to who could replace him in City’s squad rotation. During City’s win, we may have gotten a glimpse at who could fill that role.

As City were cruising to another three points to maintain their perfect start to the Premier League season, two youngsters were given their chance to impress. Sergio Gomez came on for debutant Jeremy Doku. Prodigious talent Oscar Bobb was introduced in the 90th minute to replace Phil Foden. It was Bobb’s Premier League debut and he showed glimpses of what may come

Both players took up positions on the left and right wing. And to their credit, both showed they could be capable of filling the void left by Cole Palmer’s departure. Each player showed their poise in possession, which showed they could contribute to a Pep Guardiola lineup.

Sergio Gomez got himself an assist for Erling Haaland to complete his hat trick. The Spanish youth international showed his quick feet and precise delivery for Haaland to score his third.

Oscar Bobb in his 6-minute cameo showed exactly why he’s so highly regarded at City. His quick feet and dazzling dribbling a stand-out feature of his debut. It was Bobb’s footwork in midfield that was crucial in City’s 5th goal against Fulham.

While there will be sterner tests than a tired and beaten Fulham outfit to come, Sergio Gomez and Oscar Bobb, both showed they are more than capable of taking Cole Palmer’s role in the City squad.
