Sergio Ramos has had a truly illustrious career since coming through the Sevilla academy back in 2004.
In no time at all, the centre-back proved himself with his boyhood club, earning the attention of LaLiga giants, Real Madrid.
A move in 2005 started his 16-year stint at the Bernabeau, seeing him win the Spanish league five times, four Champions League titles, four FIFA Club World Cups and six domestic trophies.
During this time, he not only excelled for his club, but also for the Spanish national team, winning the 2010 World Cup and the 2008 and 2012 Euros.
In 2021 Ramos left Madrid on a free transfer to join PSG, before moving back to Sevilla two years later.
However, in 2024, Sergio Ramos was left clubless, going six months before signing to join Mexican side Monterrey.
Now, the Liga MX side have released the centre-back at the end of the season, with reports of the star being on the verge of returning to Europe.
It’s understood that INEOS-owned OGC Nice have been looking at the free agent to bolster their defence after 42-year-old Dante has suffered a knee injury, ruling him out of action.
Now, French publication Ici has reported that OGC Nice manager Claude Puel has no interest in signing Sergio Ramos, despite the club’s defensive woes.
Averaging at two goals conceeded per game, earning only 18 points in 18 games, the Ligue 1 side are struggling in 15th place.
Given Ramos’ experience, he would certainly bring a leadership quality and stability to the Nice defence, however that option no longer seems to be on the table.
