Napoli and AC Milan join Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal to sign Manchester United outcast Jadon Sancho during this window. Sancho has recently returned from Chelsea after failing to complete a permanent move to London due to failed salary negotiations.
The 25-year-old had a big fallout with former United manager Erik ten Hag, leading to two loan moves for him. The interested parties have failed to come anywhere near the wages that Sancho is earning at United, hindering his departure.
The Red Devils want to sell off their surplus players who are not part of Ruben Amorim’s plan next season. Amorim has no intention to give any on-loan players a second chance at the club, preferring to buy new players.
The former Sporting CP boss prefers a vastly different tactical style compared to Ten Hag, resulting in the squad overhaul. United are hoping that Sancho could quickly leave the club permanently to ease the wages and add some crucial funds.
According to Fichajes, Napoli and Milan want Sancho from United, as we previously covered Al-Hilal’s interest in the England international. Sancho would potentially cost around £20m and £25m, which was Chelsea’s obligation to buy clause that they refused to pay.
The London club paid £5m instead as a penalty after triggering the obligation to buy clause last season. The abysmal downfall of Sancho would only reduce his valuation as the transfer drama drags on during the summer window.
Rest assured, United are prioritising getting rid of his wages over anything else, as they want to control their expenses. Furthermore, the Red Devils will have a limited fixture schedule as they have missed out on the next season’s European competitions.
The unwanted situation gives Amorim an opportunity to keep a small squad and target quality over quantity. As for Sancho, the Englishman could prefer to stay in Europe over a move to the Saudi Pro League at such a young age. However, the 25-year-old needs to take a significant wage cut due to his inconsistencies in performances over the years.
