Juventus hit the woodwork three times, but a late Adrien Rabiot goal allowed them to scrape a point with already-relegated Salernitana, their fifth stalemate in a row.

The Bianconeri knew a win would be enough to guarantee a top five finish, but rested players ahead of Wednesday’s Coppa Italia Final against Atalanta, with Timothy Weah suspended, Danilo, Alex Sandro and Mattia De Sciglio injured. Salernitana made the trip without Antonio Candreva, Jerome Boateng, Guillermo Ochoa, Norbert Gyomber, Giulio Maggiore, Kostas Manolas, Domagoj Bradaric and Iron Gomis.

See how it unfolded on the Liveblog.

It was a bright start from the visitors, as Gleison Bremer had to cut off Emanuel Vignato’s attack and Niccolò Pierozzi fired straight at Wojciech Szczesny, but Dusan Vlahovic thought he’d scored with a scorcher that Vincenzo Fiorillo fingertipped onto the crossbar.

Instead, Salernitana took a shock lead when Pierozzi was allowed a free header on Junior Sambia’s corner that squirmed past Wojciech Szczesny at the near post.

It was nearly 2-0 five minutes later, as Szczesny flew to palm a Sambia free kick out of the top corner, while Bremer had a rare surge forward to blast just wide from distance.

Szczesny had to come screaming off his line to push the Loum Tchaouna ball off to feet of Ikwuemesi, just managing to avoid giving away a penalty, while Andrea Cambiaso curled to clip the outside of the post from the edge of the area.

Juventus were jeered off the pitch at half-time, so Max Allegri made a triple change including Federico Chiesa.

Salernitana had penalty appeals that were evaluated by VAR, but Rabiot’s arm was parallel to the chest and it was not considered to be handball.

Vlahovic saw his angled drive flash across the face of goal to skim the far post on a Chiesa assist, then Pierozzi’s clearance in the six-yard box on a Chiesa attempt ricocheted wide off Daniele Rugani.

Chiesa also curled just wide and Gatti nodded a free kick over the bar, but both Vlahovic and Bremer failed to get on the end of the Cambiaso cross.

Arkadiusz Milik came off the Juventus bench and forced an acrobatic save with his looping header, while Gatti avoided a penalty in a shoulder-to-shoulder with Tchaouna and Fabio Miretti sliding in failed to connect with the Samuel Iling Junior roll across.

Miretti was unlucky not to equalise at the 88th minute when his scorcher thumped against the underside of the bar and bounced back out from 20 metres.

Juventus finally equalised in stoppages from an Iling Junior corner kick, which was flicked on by Manuel Locatelli for Rabiot to come sliding in at the far post.

Miretti tried to win it only to fire wide from the edge of the area, but Salernitana should’ve scored with the last kick of the game in a ferocious counter-attack, Toma Basic sweeping the finish off target one-on-one.
