Experienced Serie A referee Federico La Penna lived up to the task in last night’s clash between Atalanta and Inter Milan.
According to Corriere dello Sport via FCInter1908, the 42-year-old met expectations at the Gewiss Stadium.
Inter Milan squeezed past Atalanta in a dramatic Serie A fixture in Bergamo.
Indeed, talismanic captain Lautaro Martinez fired the Nerazzurri to a hard-fought 1-0 victory.
However, it’s worth noting that Atalanta had two goals disallowed early in the second half.
Marcus Thuram thought he had opened the scoring late in the first half.
However, VAR ruled out his goal for Lautaro’s offside in the build-up, and it was a correct decision.
Meanwhile, Nicola Zalewski and Gianluca Scamacca were well offside when they beat Yann Sommer after the break.
Other than those three moments, the match was largely incident-free, with the referee and VAR maintaining complete control of proceedings.
Furthermore, all three yellow cards were spot-on, including La Penna’s decision to book Alessandro Bastoni in the 77th minute.
Therefore, La Penna enjoyed a ‘perfect’ game.
