Daniel Levy abruptly left Tottenham Hotspur at the start of September after holding the executive chairman role for 25 years. After Levy’s exit, the north London club decided to move in a different direction by hiring Vinai Venkatesham as the new CEO.
One of Vinai Venkatesham’s noteworthy decisions in his short tenure as the club’s CEO has been to bring back Fabio Paratici to White Hart Lane. Fabio Paratici only made his return to Tottenham in October, joining as joint sporting director alongside Johan Lange. He first left the north Londoners in 2023 after losing an appeal in Italy against a 30-month ban for his role in alleged false accounting at his former club, Juventus. During that period, the Italian worked with the Premier League club only as a consultant.
However, it looks like Paratici’s days at Tottenham are numbered, having just returned to England after two months.
According to reputable journalist Fabrizio Romano on X, Fiorentina are in ongoing talks to appoint Paratici as their new Head of Football. Negotiations are underway over long-term deal as Fiorentina want the current Spurs joint sporting director as key part of their project.
Fiorentina have endured a disastrous campaign in Serie A and find themselves at the bottom of the table. After 15 matchdays, they have won just one, lost nine, drawn six games.
As a result, Paolo Vanoli, hired as a replacement for Stefano Pioli in early November, is facing immense pressure and appears to be on the brink of being sacked after putting the Florence club in serious relegation trouble in the Italian top-flight.

Given the club’s problems run deeper than performances on the pitch, the hierarchy wants the experienced Paratici to steady the ship. They require a strong, vocal figure, someone who has expertise in dealing with football operations in Italy, and there is no one better than Paratici, who has made his name as a top executive with his work at Juventus.
Should the 53-year-old give the green signal to the Fiorentina project, his departure would mark another high-profile executive change at Tottenham in recent months. And this would come amidst the north London club’s plans to appoint Manchester City executive Carlos Raphael Moersen as Head of Football Operations.
Considering the negotiations are underway, this apparently shows Paratici has expressed his approval towards the proposal from the Tuscan club. This means the recently concluded Tottenham vs. Liverpool game could very well be the Italian executive’s last fixture as the club’s co-sporting director.
