Seven Things You Didn't Know About PSG vs Inter Milan Champions League Final
IPA

The UEFA Champions League Final between PSG and Inter Milan will be streamed live in the US on Paramount+ on Saturday, May 31st at 3pm ET. You probably already knew that; but did you know....

1. Historic Firsts - Part One

This final marks the first time Inter Milan and PSG have ever faced each other in the Champions League. In fact this is only the second European Cup final between teams from France and Italy. The first remains the only time a Ligue 1 club has lifted the trophy – Marseille beating AC Milan 1-0 in Munich in the 1993 Champions League. This game also takes place in Munich. An omen?

2. Historic Firsts - Part Two

PSG has never won the title. Should they win, Paris would become the 24th side to win the European Cup and a new name on the trophy for the second time in three seasons, after Manchester City beat Inter in 2023. Meanwhile Inter's manager Simone Inzaghi is still aiming for his first European title as a coach. As a player, he once won the UEFA Super Cup with Lazio in 1999 by defeating Manchester United.

3. Historic Seconds?

PSG's manager Luis Enrique was a Champions League winner as Barcelona coach in 2014/15. He is the tenth coach to reach the European Cup final with different clubs. Only six have won the trophy with multiple teams: Ernst Happel (Feyenoord & Hamburg); Ottmar Hitzfeld (Dortmund & Bayern); José Mourinho (Porto & Inter); Jupp Heynckes (Real Madrid & Bayern); Carlo Ancelotti (AC Milan & Real Madrid); and Pep Guardiola (Barcelona & Manchester City).

4. Goals Galore?

Paris have not been involved in a goalless draw in the Champions League since their 0-0 with Real Madrid in the 2015/16 group stage – 98 matches ago.

5. Milan's edge over French Teams

  • PSG's record vs Italian clubs: W6 D9 L10 (Goals F27 A33)
  • Inter's record vs French clubs: W12 D8 L7 (Goals F42 A27)
  • Paris' record in two UEFA penalty shoot-outs is W1 L1
  • Inter's record in five UEFA penalty shoot-outs is W2 L3

6. Inter & PSG's Millions

Inter Milan will pay the squad $11.33 million in bonuses if they are to beat PSG in the Champions League final. Meanwhile Paris St Germain have 63.2M followers on Instagram vs just 14.4M for Inter Milan.

7. Opta vs The Bookies

Opta's supercomputer has predicted the Champions League winner, giving PSG a 53.6% chance and Inter a 44.6% chance. Bookies are more bullish on PSG winning, offering odds of about -150 on PSG and +120 on Inter Milan.

Bonus Fun

Paris Saint Germain have far more interesting anagrams to make from their letters, including Repairing Satanism, Reprising Tasmania, and Raining Separatism. For the Italians, there's Airline Mint, Mini Rental and Mineral Tin.
