Milan legend Andriy Shevchenko is heading for a new role in his home country as President of the Ukraine Football Federation.

The former striker is the only candidate put forward for the position, according to media reports, in the election for the new UAF President that will be held on January 25.

Shevchenko had already been the assistant manager under Mykhaylo Fomenko in 2016, then took on the role of head coach of the national team from July 2016 to August 2021, overseeing 52 matches.

His only other coaching role was in Serie A with Genoa from November 2021 to January 2022.

He scored 48 goals in 111 senior caps for Ukraine and has been working tirelessly to raise awareness and funds for his country as it deals with the invasion from Russia.

Sheva also recently released a book of his memoirs covering the experiences of his childhood as well as his football career at Dinamo Kyiv, Milan and Chelsea.
