Fabio Paratici set for Tottenham Hotspur return imminently

This season has not gone as planned and Tottenham have dropped to 17th place in the Premier League  and went trophyless in the domestic competitions. But there is hope on the horizon. Spurs are favourites to win the Europa League and will face Manchester United on Wednesday at San Mamés. A win will qualify Tottenham for the Champions League and be a big financial helping hand, which is important for the summer rebuilding process. Now with the news that Tottenham are reappointing their former managing director of football, Fabio Paratici, it was also  reported by journalist Tom Barclay that his return to North London was ‘imminent’.”

Fabio Paratici, the 52-year-old Italian executive, is returning to Tottenham next month after serving a ban of 18 months for financial misconduct at his time at Juventus.

It is believed at Tottenham, he will coordinate a possible replacement for Ange Postecoglou. Although he has led Spurs to the Europa League final, Postecoglou is likely to be dismissed after Wednesday’s match, and reports suggest that Paratici will be integrally involved in the decision of the next head coach.

The Italian resigned from Tottenham in April 2023 after an unsuccessful appeal in Italy that had seen him originally receive a 30-month ban.

Paratici has helped Tottenham secure their best players

Paratici first came to the club in 2021 but left the club in 2023 when Italy’s highest sports court rejected his appeal for a two and a half year ban by FIFA, after financial misdeeds were recorded at Juventus. During the sanction, Paratici had an unofficial advisory role at Spurs and had conversations with AC Milan. He remained a familiar face at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium despite the ban, which will timeout in July. Now with Tom Barclay confirming his imminent return, Spurs are in a fortunate situation to have Paratici back to help for a key summer transfer window.

It is suggested that Spurs were able to have Paratici giving advice during his interim leave, and that he was integral to bringing a number of current first team players to the club in his previous role. Cristian Romero, Pedro Porro, Destiny Udogie, and Dejan Kulusevski were all acquired under the leadership of Antonio Conte, who had been managing whilst working with Paratici at Juventus. Now, Paratici is expected to play a significant role in the club’s search for a new manager, as well as having a significant say in the club\’s overhaul in summer.
