For more than a decade now, Manchester United have been trying to replace the success they enjoyed under Sir Alex Ferguson.

The Red Devils remain in a period of transition following the recent dismissal of Ruben Amorim.

The Portuguese coach was relieved of his duties earlier this year, with the club now assessing a shortlist of candidates they could approach ahead of the summer as they look to stabilise their long-term direction.

Despite stepping away from management more than a decade ago, Sir Alex Ferguson continues to hold a strong presence around the club he transformed during his legendary reign at Old Trafford.

The legendary manager, who won 13 Premier League titles with United, has remained involved in football since retiring in 2013.

Last summer, Ferguson also took on a new ambassadorial role with the charity initiative Playlist For Life.

Now, he has confirmed a new project connected to his football career.

According to the Glasgow Times, Sir Alex Ferguson has announced a new memoir titled Games of My Life, which reflects on 21 matches that shaped his journey through the sport.

Rather than focusing solely on the famous victories of his career, Ferguson explained that the selections reflect deeply personal moments spanning different periods of his life.

“I’ve selected 21 football games for this book which are particularly meaningful to me,” Ferguson said,

“The choices may surprise you because, rather than dwelling on the matches I’ve written about previously or those that might immediately register in the minds of fans, I’ve chosen games that take me back to different points in my life and which, even after decades have passed, count for so much.”

He added that some of the matches discussed in the book are not widely documented.

“Some of these games are not in any television archive. They are just memories.

“But, in my mind, I am watching them now – in vivid colour.”

The fully illustrated memoir will be published on October 8 by Pan Macmillan in association with Bedford Square Publishers.

Ferguson’s previous autobiography, released in 2013, proved hugely successful and sold more than the one million copies in the UK alone.

His latest work promises to revisit defining relationships, major life lessons and pivotal moments that helped shape one of the most decorated managerial careers in sporting history.

The 21 matches featured in the memoir will span Ferguson’s entire football journey, from his early life in Govan to his historic tenure at Manchester United.
