Manchester United are facing a hefty financial loss if they manage to offload Jadon Sancho during this transfer window.
Ineos thought Sancho wouldn’t be a problem anymore when a loan move to Chelsea was arranged last summer, but the deal fell through before anything was finalised.
Chelsea ended up paying a £5 million fee to send him back to Manchester after he turned down a significant wage cut that would have allowed the move to go through.
Now, Ineos are left with the task of finding another club willing to take him on, and it hasn’t been an easy process so far.
Juventus have expressed some interest, but it looks like United may need to make further concessions if they’re going to get any deal completed.
Reports out of Italy suggest that Sancho has held another round of talks with Juventus, but Manchester United’s valuation remains a sticking point.
United are looking for £22m (€25m) this summer, the same figure they set when negotiating with Chelsea, but Juventus aren’t willing to meet that price.
The Italian side have already put forward an offer of £8.6m plus an additional £4.3m in add-ons, and it appears United may be prepared to move closer to their bid.
According to FootballItalia, United are being forced into lowering their demands after Juventus made it clear they won’t pay the full asking price.
Ineos paid £73m to bring Sancho to Old Trafford, so any deal will mean taking a substantial financial hit.
Ruben Amorim is well aware of the expectations ahead of the 2025/26 season and has already made some significant decisions.
According to The Athletic, five players were told not to report back for training last week and were instead given access to Carrington only after first-team sessions had wrapped up.
Ineos have supported Amorim’s choices and have let him decide which players should be moved on this summer, but so far, they haven’t followed through in getting those deals done.
The manager had hoped most of the outgoing business would be settled before the pre-season tour of the United States. But with time running short, there hasn’t been a single departure yet.
With just over a month until United open their Premier League campaign against Arsenal, Ineos are feeling growing pressure to finalise their transfer plans.
