Chelsea are reportedly considering two options for a new goalkeeper soon, including one as a loan move option.

That is at least according to a report from Sky Sports in France this week.

Chelsea going for a new goalkeeper is something that the club have often tried to sweep under the rug and shut down any such transfer rumour as they clearly do not want to unsettle the apple cart any time soon. But there was also stories of Chelsea wanting to sign Mike Maignan from AC Milan, which were obviously true. Chelsea clearly wanted to sign a new goalkeeper in the summer, and they still do want to now.

Chelsea have also been linked with other goalkeepers, including a link just yesterday regarding a possible move for Barcelona goalkeeper Marc ter-Stegen to join Chelsea soon.

And incidentally, it is the two above goalkeepers that we are talking about for this fresh new story from Sky in France today.

Chelsea consider Maignan and Stegen

The report states that Chelsea continue to look for an experienced goalkeeper. They are considering two major options: a loan for Marc-André ter Stegen, who is lacking playing time at FC Barcelona, but they are also considering Mike Maignan for next summer.

Needed still

In my opinion, Chelsea absolutely do still need to sign a new goalkeeper and Maignan stays as a good option. I like Stegen too but he’s not even playing at Barcelona right now so I’m not sure he would be the best option for Chelsea right now.
