Slovenia manager provides Benjamin Sesko injury update

Benjamin Sesko has played in four of Manchester United’s five Premier League games so far this season, but will not play for Slovenia during the international break.

The 23-year-old withdrew from his duties with the nation earlier this week after initially being named in the squad that will face Scotland, North Macedonia, and Switzerland.

Sesko’s injury, which did not look good according to reports on Monday, was caused by a collision with the advertisements boards at Old Trafford against Liverpool in May.

It has since caused him to miss the entirety of Manchester United’s pre-season schedule whilst forcing both the forward and the club’s management team to carefully ease him back into action during the matches he has played a part in.

Slovenia manager Bostjan Cesar has now provided an update on the forward’s condition whilst speaking to the press.

“This isn’t an easy time for Benjamin,” he told Planet Nagomet.

“He is going through a difficult period in his career, as we know he hasn’t suffered many injuries in the past. It is an atypical injury that requires time to heal.

“The most important thing now is for Sesko to surround himself with people he trusts and believes in, and for everyone around him to remain positive.

“Because that is what he needs. He needs time, he needs good rehabilitation – and Slovenia needs him too, once he is fully healthy.”

Throughout the early stages of this season, it has been clear that United have lacked a physical presence at the top of the field, even with Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo filling in Sesko’s place.

With just over two weeks until Manchester United’s fixture against Tottenham Hotspur, their first after the international break, full focus for Sesko may be on recovering.

It remains unclear when Benjamin Sesko may return from his injury fully, although United may hope it is soon to give Michael Carrick more options in forward positions.
