Sassuolo’s young centre-back Tarik Muharemović has become one of the hottest names of the winter transfer window, according to The Boy Hotspur’s Substack.

The 22-year-old defender has caught the eye with his consistent performances in Serie A this season, attracting interest from Tottenham, Newcastle and Manchester United. The Premier League clubs are closely monitoring the Bosnian international as they look to strengthen their back line, while Inter and Juventus are also in the race. From Germany, RB Leipzig is preparing a bid worth €25 million plus bonuses, adding even more heat to the competition.

Muharemović joined Sassuolo last summer from Juventus’ second team for €3 million. His deal includes a clause that gives Juventus 50% of any future transfer fee, a factor that heavily influences negotiations, especially for Serie A clubs. Sassuolo, however, is reluctant to sell in January. CEO Giovanni Carnevali has admitted to having had contacts ,but no official offers, stressing that the price will depend on who comes forward.

Beyond his defensive solidity, Muharemović has also impressed with his contribution going forward. Manchester United has been sending scouts regularly to watch him, and a more concrete move is expected in the summer. Sassuolo’s firm stance against a January sale could soften once the season ends, opening the door for a bigger transfer battle in the next window.

Spurs do appear in some broader transfer roundups (e.g., in stories about Serie A defenders), but mostly in the context of other targets or outgoing players like Micky van de Ven (who’s linked to Barcelona).

What are the chances of Spurs signing him?

Tottenham are said to be monitoring various talents, but Muharemović isn’t highlighted as a primary target for them at the moment. Sassuolo seem reluctant to sell in the January window anyway, preferring a summer move if at all.

He’s popped up in fan discussions and scout lists mentioning Spurs (e.g., alongside other young CB prospects like Luka Vušković, who’s on loan from Tottenham), but nothing concrete or breaking news points to an imminent “Tarik Muharemović to Spurs” deal.

If Spurs are looking to bolster their defence (especially with potential departures), a left-footed young CB like him could fit, but Manchester United and Inter seem more actively linked at the moment.
