Europe’s biggest clubs have entered a fierce transfer race for Bournemouth’s young defender, Dean Huijsen.
Real Madrid remains in pursuit of the young player. The Spanish giant could offer some names on loan to reduce the fee demanded by Bournemouth. Besides Madrid, The Boy Hotspur understands that Liverpool, Tottenham, Chelsea, and Arsenal are also in the race for Huijsen. Spurs are particularly intent upon continuing their pursuit of youth, whoever is in charge, come next season.
Indeed, Cadena SER say we’ve placed a bid for the boy.
Chelsea are thought to be considering activating the young defender’s £50 million release clause. However, the competition is tough with Liverpool looking to be in the transfer mix this summer. Arsenal also wants to add this talented player to their squad. At the moment, Chelsea stands out as the strongest candidate for the transfer, having held talks with the Spanish defender’s inner circle.
Bundesliga teams RB Leipzig and Eintracht Frankfurt are exploring potential loan deals for Huijsen. Meanwhile, Bayern Munich, another German powerhouse, continues its serious interest in the player but must offload some defenders, particularly Kim Min-jae, before making a move.
Our view
It is pretty clear from Ange Postecoglou’s defiance in his recent press conferences that we are effectively at a Europa League or bust stage of the proceedings.
Quite if that was his intention from the outset is anyone’s guess, as the Premier League results have seen the club being roundly mocked by all and sundry. Paddy Power, in particular, must have an entire department dedicated to mocking us at this stage.
The truth is that this competition will have little impact on the Australians’ fate, as no serious club can adopt this ‘egg’s all in one basket’ approach. What is more likely is that Daniel Levy and the board will continue to adopt a pragmatic approach, mixing youth with experience in the hope that a more experienced manager can be brought in to steady the ship.
