Lazio president Claudio Lotito will soon launch a five-year plan branded ‘Lazio 2032’, which includes renovating the Stadio Flaminio.
The patron has recently become public enemy number one among the Biancocelesti supporters, who have been infuriated with the club’s current situation. The fanbase has been vastly unsatisfied with the recent transfer dealings, as Lazio sold some of their most prized assets and replaced them with cheaper alternatives, while failing to address some major issues.
But while the fans have been urging Lotito to put an end to his 22-year reign at Formello, the Italian senator remains unyielding, as he continues to plan for what he promises to be a brighter future for the club.
According to Il Corriere della Sera (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), Lotito revealed that the club will hold a press conference next week to present the Stadio Flaminio renovation plans, before unveiling the ‘Lazio 2032’ project in March, while seemingly extending an olive branch to the supporters.
In life as in football, dissent exists and it deserves respect. It’s part of passion, and passion is the soul of Lazio. At times, some of my statements may be interpreted differently from what I intend. That’s legitimate, so it’s fair for the fans to ask questions — but I respond with facts.
Next week (on Tuesday) we will publicly present the (Stadio Flaminio) project already submitted to the Municipality for the Stadio Flaminio. Then, in March, we will unveil ‘Lazio 2032’, our five-year relaunch plan.
It remains to be seen whether these developments will have any impact on the ongoing protests. While the organized fan groups might be determined to boycott Lazio’s matches at the Stadio Olimpico, the hierarchy will be hoping that other Biancocelesti supporters show up on Saturday for the league clash against Atalanta, after playing in almost empty stadium against Genoa a couple of weeks ago.
