Following their excellent opening day victory over West Ham United, Sunderland are back in action on Saturday. They face fellow promotion side Burnley at Turf Moor in what will be seen as a perfect game to add to their three points from their first game.
In front of a passionate, sold-out Stadium of Light, Sunderland got off to the perfect start, beating West Ham 3-0. Goals from Eliezer Mayenda, Dan Ballard, and Wilson Isidor made it another memorable day on Wearside as the Black Cats returned to the Premier League in style.

Following the West Ham game, Sunderland completed their 12th signing of the summer transfer. France international defender Nordi Mukiele signed from Paris Saint-Germain for a fee in the region of £12 million. The right-back, who can also play in central defence, takes Sunderland’s summer spending to almost £160 million.
Luke O’Nien, Dennis Cirkin, and Romain Mundle will once again be out through injury. O’Nien and Cirkin are expected to be back following the upcoming international break, while Mundle will be out until October.
Defender Jenson Seelt left the field injured last weekend but is expected to be fit should Regis Le Bris decide to use him.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference, the Sunderland head coach had this to say: “It’s always a different story. They were really consistent last season, hard to beat. They were always well organised.
“I don’t think it will be different for this game. They still have many threats. They changed the system for Spurs, so we don’t know what they will do. We have many news players. So it’s a new story.
“It’s the Premier League, it’s always dangerous. They lost to Spurs but they were not weak. Spurs were clinical. They will be ready.”

Head Coach Regis Le Bris has a welcome selection headache this weekend. Defender Omar Alderete is pushing for a start after impressing as a substitute against West Ham. New signings Arthur Masuaku and Nordi Mukiele are expected to be part of the travelling squad but are likely to start on the bench should they feature.
Jensen Seelt, despite playing well before being injured, could miss out altogether, with Regis Le Bris hinting that the centre half could be sent out on loan.
Sunderland now have strength in depth and game changes from the bench, so those who are selected to start must perform.
